As of the 2021 census, Liskeard parish had 10,902 residents. It is a market town in south-east Cornwall, run by Cornwall Council and Liskeard Town Council, and is neither part of Devon nor a suburb of Plymouth. PL14 runs out to Menheniot, St Cleer, Dobwalls, Pensilva, St Neot, St Keyne and Duloe. The A38 now bypasses the town centre, and the branch line to Looe leaves from the station in Liskeard.
