The docks, Penryn and Flushing · Falmouth
Falmouth data recovery. The boat leaves on a fixed date; its drawings sit on one disk.
Falmouth had 24,032 people in the parish at the 2021 census and 24,070 in the built-up area, on a harbour its own authority calls the third deepest natural one in the world. Falmouth Docks and the A&P Falmouth ship-repair yard passed to the Cornish group Balaena in June 2026, Pendennis takes custom yachts up to 100 metres, and round them sit the surveyors, riggers, chandlers and boatbuilders a repair port keeps busy. Then the university at Woodlane, the Marine School, the Fal oyster boats still worked under sail and oar, and the lets along the Moor. The bench sees that spread — laminate schedules, point clouds, a booking database, camera cards, an external that has begun to click. Send it tracked; the look is free.

What comes in from TR11 and TR10.
Yours not here? Start at the triage →| What shows up | Why it ends up here | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A dock office PC that can no longer find its disk | Job records, subcontractor invoices and the accounts all sit on it | Take the disk out and send that by itself |
| A card from a morning on the water that reads as empty | It left the camera before the last write had finished | Shoot nothing else on it; send it exactly as it is |
| A four-bay NAS in a boatyard office that will not rebuild | The only copy a small firm keeps is inside that one box | Shut it down, write the bay on each disk, send the disks alone |
| A holiday let's booking machine stuck on a black screen | Reservations, guest details and a season of card takings sit behind it | Stop restarting it and let us look at the disk |
| An external drive of regatta work that has started clicking | A season of shoots on it, with clients waiting on the files | Unplug it now — every further minute makes it worse |
Settle these before it goes in the post.
A word from one customer.
Ten of them, in full →What do you when you camera memory card fails? Well you stress and waste hours with free data recovery software online, then search in vain for an affordable sd card recovery service. I recommend you skip those steps, contact Plymouth Data Recovery and then put your feet up and relax. In under a week they managed to get full file recovery for me and recover all my safari pictures. Outstanding work, and no nasty surprises with the invoice as it matched the quote.
Thomas Buckland · FalmouthThe questions Falmouth asks most.
Is there anywhere in Falmouth to drop it in?
No, and Plymouth has no public counter either. Every imaging rig and the whole donor stock live in one building, so the disk is what travels. Send it to the Bristol lab by tracked, insured post; it is opened and looked at free of charge on arrival, and we pay for the journey back.
How soon does a drive posted from TR11 come back?
Handed in tracked on a weekday, it is generally on the bench by the following morning. Assessment is free, and one figure follows it in writing. Logical faults are frequently finished within two working days; a seized motor runs a good deal longer, and you are told at the outset which one you are dealing with.
The booking database lives on one office PC. What now?
Kill the power at the wall and leave it be. No repair tools, and no reinstall to coax it back into life. The disk is imaged before anything else, and every attempt happens on that copy, so the original goes home exactly as it came. Say so if a guest house or a charter office is taking bookings on paper meanwhile.
There is a NAS in the yard office. How do we send it?
Ring us first. Then lift the disks out and write on each one the bay that held it, before anything shifts. Bristol wants bare drives, not the box they sat in. A server or a workstation with several disks is no different: settle the order on the call, because that labelling is what lets the set go back together.
