Is there anywhere in Falmouth to drop it in?
No, and Plymouth has no public counter either. All of our imaging equipment and donor stock are in one location, so only the disk travels. As soon as you receive your quote, send it to our Bristol lab by tracked, insured post. It is opened and looked at free of charge on arrival, and returned at our expense.
How long does it take for a drive posted from TR11 to come back?
Once you've sent it tracked on a weekday, it is usually on the bench by the following morning. Inspection is done at no charge, and one written figure follows. Logical faults can often be finished in 2 working days; if the motor has seized, recovery can take much longer, but we tell you at the outset which type of failure you are dealing with.
Our booking database resides on one office PC. What's next?
Disconnect the power at the wall and just leave it alone. Do not use any repair tools, and do not try a reinstall to get it back online. First we image the disk, and all recovery attempts are made on the image copy, so the original disk is returned to you exactly as it was sent. Let us know if your guest house or charter office is taking bookings on paper meanwhile.
There is a NAS in the yard office. How do we send it?
Ring first. Then take the disks out of your NAS, after you've labelled each with the bay it sat in. We want bare disks, not the box they were in. If the disks cannot be removed from the NAS, please send us the entire unit. A server or workstation with several disks is no different: settle the order on the call, since that labelling allows the set to be put back together.
