Our expert engineers are the premier providers of data recovery solutions in Exeter and Devon and after 16 + years in the field we can tell you that it isn’t over until the hard drive has no life left in it and lies in pieces on the floor! Call our team today on 01752 479547 and ask for more information and a no obligation quotation.

What is QNAP? Our data recovery Exeter engineers know what QNAP is and have recovered data from its internal hard drives for many clients, helping them return to work when all hope of seeing the data again was lost and it looked like many man-hours were about to lost in the pursuit of old backups and hard copies. QNAP are a brand of network assisted storage (NAS) devices that allow multiple users to access the same data at the same time across a network and make changes to do whilst doing so, in the same way as you would with a RAID device (RAID – Redundant Array of Inexpensive/Independent Disks).

QNAP is really a range of mid to high value enclosures that allow you, the user, to install your own hard drives that when in place can create a virtual machine that can – if you so wish – be used for networking by IP and Ethernet. Our data recovery Exeter engineers have dealt with such arrays (as indicated earlier very similar to RAID) that allow for up to 12 hard drives to be installed with a maximum storage volume of 72TBs.

As with the majority of RAID devices these days they have the ability to work ‘on the fly’ and allow for ‘Hot Swapping’ (the process by which a drive that has failed can be removed and replaced whilst the array is still operational to all users) but herein lies the problem and as purveyors of Exeter and Devon’s premier RAID recovery solutions we have been asked to help recover data from such devices after ‘Hot Swapping’ has failed or a rebuild has gone wrong.

Can’t I operate the machine without that one drive?

Our data recovery Exeter engineers would recommend against it especially if you have arranged your QNAP enclosure to operate as a particular RAID device. If it is anything other than RAID 0 then it will be necessary to have the drive replaced and the data from it recovered if the rebuild has failed. This is no small part to do with the fact that faulty rebuilds can allow for issues with mirroring and striping later on.

Call our team today on 01752 479547 if your RAID device has suffered a failure and has left your workforce unable to access the data on the network. Our engineers will provide you with an initial diagnosis of the problem as well as a no obligation quote and then explain how our No Fix No Fee guarantee works (we may include an additional charge if the drive in question has suffered a mechanical failure). If you are happy for us to continue we ask that you send the affected drive (we only require the drive) to our data recovery Exeter and Devon centre. You can do this by post, courier or in person if you so choose.

Having received your storage device our data recovery Exeter team will make a firm diagnosis of the problem and report back to you by email. The email we send will detail comprehensively all of the data that can be recovered and its size (if the data to be recovered exceeds more than 30GBs in size we will ask you to purchase an external storage device from our stocks). If you are happy to continue we ask that you make payment to us by credit or debit card (personal or business is fine) or by BACS transfer. Once payment has been received we will recover and return your data by next day courier service. To find out more about how we can help recover your data call our team today on 01752 479547; our lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm (except Christmas Day and Easter).
